FFXIV Ironman Challenge

I will have to preface this... This is just an idea, not something I have tried or tested yet (If I do, I will post that progress on my blog). I'm sure it could use lot more tweaking to ensure it's actually doable and enjoyable etc. But if anyone is glutton for punishment.. Go ahead.

Core Rules

Gear & Equipment

  • Craft all gear and gather all materials yourself.
  • Exception: Starting equipment for your class/job is allowed.
  • No dungeon gear or quest gear unless absolutely necessary (e.g., a quest or mechanic requires it and it cannot be obtained any other way, like Ehcatl Wristgloves).
  • Banned gear may still be used as glamour.

Economy & Trading

  • No Market Board at all.
  • No trading with other players.
  • No buying from NPCs unless it is the only way to obtain the item.
  • Retainer use is allowed.
  • Relic weapons and tools are allowed (they are a pain to obtain anyway).

Travel

  • Aetheryte use is allowed

Optional Hardcore Rules

These rules are optional — add any of them for an extra challenge:

  • No aetheryte unless absolutely necessary. Porters are still allowed.
  • One life: When you die, you delete your character and start from zero.
  • No plugins.
  • No external tools (no Teamcraft, Garland Tools, ACT, Raphael, etc.). You are on your own.
  • No using mender NPC (Please don't do this one, it's probably the most annoying rule)

Endgoals

Choose at least 3 endgoals to complete the challenge. Pick from the following:

Combat

  • Clear every dungeon
  • Clear every trial
  • Clear every raid (Normal difficulty)
  • Clear every raid (all difficulties — because fuck you)
  • Clear every alliance raid

Progression

  • Reach the current level cap
  • Obtain current BiS gear, pentamelded
  • Own a large house

Collection Logs

  • Fishing log completed
  • Crafting log completed
  • Gathering log completed
  • Hunt log completed

Special Content

  • Obtain every spell for Blue Mage and clear the Masked Carnivale
  • Obtain every beast for Beastmaster and clear its solo content

You must clear 3 endgoals to finish the challenge.
